We just wrapped up an unforgettable end-of-summer trip to Walt Disney World, and it was the perfect sendoff before heading into the school year. With the Florida heat still in full swing, the crowds were more manageable and we were able to do and see everything on our list for this trip. Disney World has been working hard to bring new shows, experiences, and attractions to the parks and we planned our days around these four exciting experiences: the reimagined Test Track, the new Villains Show, the brand-new Little Mermaid stage show, and the magical new nighttime parade—Disney’s Starlight.
Here’s a recap of each, along with some tips if you’re planning your own trip soon.
🏁 The Newly Reimagined Test Track (EPCOT)

- Re-opening Date: July 22, 2025
- Location: EPCOT – World Discovery
Disney and Chevrolet have completely reimagined Test Track, shifting the experience from futuristic car design to inspired motion and innovation based on nature and early General Motors models.
Notable changes: The “design your own car” feature is gone, as are the interactive games at the end. Instead, guests move through a more immersive, story-driven queue and ride experience that pays homage to the original “World of Motion” theme.
Our take: While we missed designing our own vehicle, the new version is sleeker, more refined, and beautifully executed.
🐚 The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure (Hollywood Studios)

- Opening Date: May 27, 2025
- Location: Animation Courtyard – Hollywood Studios
- Showtimes: Multiple daily showings (check the My Disney Experience app)
This reimagined stage show is a magical take on The Little Mermaid, featuring a blend of live performers, puppetry, underwater effects, and digital projections.
TIP: Arrive 30 minutes before showtime to secure a spot. It fills up quickly!
Our take: Disney nailed it. It’s a hit with kids and adults alike—one of our favorites of the whole trip!
😈 Villains Unfairly Ever After (Hollywood Studios)

- Opening Date: May 27, 2025
- Location: Hollywood Studios – Sunset Showcase
- Showtimes: Multiple daily showings (check the My Disney Experience app)
This lively and interactive show gives Disney’s most misunderstood characters a chance to tell their side of the story. With appearances from iconic villains, catchy musical numbers, and plenty of mischief, Villains Unfairly Ever After is a crowd-pleaser.
TIP: Arrive at least 20 minutes early to grab a good seat—this show draws a crowd, especially in the evenings.
Our take: The kids had a blast! It’s playful, energetic, and surprisingly funny—definitely worth making time for.
🌠 Disney’s Starlight – New Nighttime Parade (Magic Kingdom)

- Premiere Date: July 20, 2025 (soft opening 7/18 & 7/19)
- Showtime: 9:00 PM & 11:00 PM nightly (weather permitting)
- Route: Main Street U.S.A. → Liberty Square → Frontierland
Disney’s newest nighttime parade is a glowing masterpiece. Starlight features dazzling floats, synchronized music, and characters like Tinker Bell, Moana, Elsa, Coco and Mirabel—plus the parade kicks off with the rarely seen Blue Fairy from Pinocchio.
Viewing Tips:
- Arrive 90–120 minutes early for front row Main Street views. If it’s summer, bring a towel or blanket to sit on while you wait because the concrete is blazing 🥵
- We chose to sit in front of Town Square Theater. But, if you see the 9 PM parade and plan to stay for Happily Ever After, pick a spot closer to the castle for the best fireworks views 🎆
- At 8:30 PM, Main Street was announced as at capacity.
- People were already lining up 2 hours early (around 7:00 PM).
- Parade Run Time: 12-15 minutes.
- Alternative spots: Liberty Square bridge, Frontierland near Country Bear Jamboree, or the hub if you’re early.
Our take: Absolutely worth the wait. It’s a visual and emotional highlight that had the whole crowd cheering.
Our favorites: Pinocchio, Coco, Peter Pan, and, of course, Mickey & Minnie!
Final Thoughts
This trip was packed with so many fun new shows and attractions, and Disney truly delivered! From thrilling rides to immersive shows and stunning nighttime entertainment, it was the perfect way to wrap up summer!
